WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

The AR/AP Manager oversees the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of customer invoices, vendor payments, collections, and reconciliations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial health of the organization by managing cash flow, optimizing processes, ensuring compliance, and leading a team of AR and AP Specialists. 

Accounts Receivable (AR): 
  • Manage customer billing, invoicing, and collections processes.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Resolve billing discrepancies and customer payment issues.
  • Apply customer payments and ensure accurate recording in the ERP system.
  • Prepare AR reports for management and assist with cash flow forecasting.

Accounts Payable (AP): 

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
  • Review and approve payment runs (checks, ACH, wire transfers).
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and respond to inquiries or disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Manage vendor onboarding and W-9 collection, support year-end 1099 reporting

Team Management and Leadership:

  • Supervise and mentor AR and AP team members.
  • Set team goals, assign tasks, and review performance.
  • Identify opportunities for training and development.
  • Streamline and standardize AR and AP processes to improve efficiency.
  • Organize and develop Standard Operating Procedures for the AP and AR departments.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations.
  • Communicate and coordinate accounting policies, practices, and procedures with various stakeholders such as company departments, managers, vendors, customers, reporting agencies, and clients

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure proper internal controls are followed and updated.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external and internal audits.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to AR and AP.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., sales tax exemptions, 1099s).
  • Support ERP system upgrades or process automation initiatives related to AR and AP functions. 
  • Provide financial insights to support cost control and profitability goals. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Solid understanding of inventory accounting, freight billing, and vendor compliance processes.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and manage teams with competing priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 7+ years of AR/AP experience, with 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, etc. industry.
  • Familiarity with internal controls and other financial regulations.
  • Experience with process automation or AP/AR system upgrades.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • JDE experience is a plus. 
  • Advanced excel skills. 


Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 30 lbs.
  • Operate office equipment requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.


Hours & Workdays:

  • 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday through Friday onsite, when business requires before/after hours will be mandatory, and on-call.
