UI/UX Designer - Diabetes Technology

We're seeking a talented UI/UX Designer to create intuitive digital experiences for the Pivot insulin pump and next-generation diabetes technology. You'll design mobile apps, portals, and data dashboards that simplify diabetes management for patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end experiences for iOS, Android, and web applications including companion apps, provider tools, and onboarding flows
  • Create wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that transform complex workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive design system in Figma with design tokens, component libraries, and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
  • Partner with iOS, Android, and web development teams to ensure pixel-perfect implementation
  • Conduct user research and usability testing with patients, diabetes educators, and healthcare providers to validate design decisions
  • Collaborate with product, clinical, engineering, and marketing teams in Agile/Scrum processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 4-7 years of UX/UI or product design experience focused on consumer digital products
  • Proven experience shipping native mobile products (iOS/Android) with strong understanding of platform-specific design patterns
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design thinking and successful product launches (portfolio required)
  • Expert proficiency in Figma and prototyping tools
  • Strong visual design skills with attention to UI aesthetics, typography, and brand consistency
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work in fast-paced, Agile environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for healthcare, medical devices, or chronic disease management
  • Familiarity with FDA human factors requirements (IEC 62366-1) for regulated medical devices
  • Experience with data visualization, health dashboards, or gamified experiences
  • Understanding of diabetes terminology and patient needs

Location: San Diego, CA (on-site/hybrid)

Travel: Occasional (up to 15%) for user research and conferences
