JOB TITLE: COMPUTER MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN-District Level III
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in the field of information technology preferred OR
Relevant certifications and/or experience equivalent to an associate degree. - Four years of experience maintaining, securing, and troubleshooting advanced networking equipment and databases in an enterprise-scale production environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Computer Maintenance Technician - Level III is responsible for designing and executing long-term plans to ensure technical systems are operational, supported, updated, and secure. Persons in this position display advanced understanding of databases, identity management, and network infrastructure. Level III technicians also serve as a top escalation point for resolving technical issues in the district.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Resolve advanced technical support incidents.
- Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in district-managed systems.
- Evaluate vendor compliance with relevant data sharing and cybersecurity security rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Identity and evaluate new educational technology systems that promote student learning and safety.
- Create and execute plans to phase out aging and outdated hardware and software as needed.
- Configure and maintain email quarantines, filters, and routing.
- Collaborate with other departments to minimize negative impacts on classroom instruction and business operations due to system downtime, outages, upgrades, or maintenance.
- Maintain and improve identity and access management lifecycle workflows.
- Develop and document best practices for troubleshooting common technical issues.
- Develop and conduct one-on-one and group training of District personnel in use of computers and related software.
- Develop long-term purchasing recommendations and recommend strategies to maintain efficiency given the finite amount of financial resources available in the overall budget.
- Identify and plan maintenance for district-owned technology devices and equipment; supervise first and second tier work to be completed.
- Assist and collaborate with digital learning coaches as needed.
- Provide recommendations to departmental leadership and school-level leadership on appropriate placement of technology devices and appropriate training to be delivered.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Advanced knowledge of technology devices and networking equipment.
- Advanced methods, equipment, and tools used in the skilled repair and servicing of computer equipment.
- Single sign-on technologies, federation systems, and identity lifecycle management.
- Advanced knowledge of computer networks and networking equipment, management, installation, and maintenance.
- Safety practices and precautions used in working with computer equipment.
- Advanced computer programming knowledge and application (preferred)
- Advanced techniques in record-keeping, organization, inventory, and work order management.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Health and safety regulations.
ABILITY TO:
- Perform a variety of advanced duties related to the installation, repair, alteration and maintenance of technology devices and equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
- Seek out resources for self-training, training other staff, etc. when necessary and warranted.
- Plan and manage large technical projects including estimating labor and material costs.
- Maintain records related to work performed.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Lift heavy objects.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subject to both indoor, environmentally controlled and outdoor environments. Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises. Travel amongst building locations required. Will require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors. This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment.
