Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. (option to extend hours to 4:30 or 5 p.m.)
Position Summary
The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) seeks a long-term substitute Toddler Assistant Guide. Tentative assignment dates are October 20 - November 14, 2025. The ideal candidate will support the Lead Guide in daily management of a classroom with students ages 15 months to 3 years old in a prepared Montessori environment.
Qualifications
High School diploma
Minimum two years teaching experience at the early childhood level
Committed to the mission and core values of MSR, which include "respect, integrity, community, and love of learning"
Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the MSR community

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Adhere to school guidelines and professional standards
Ensure safety and well-being of students in the classroom
Adheres to the MSR Diapering and Toileting best practices policy, ensuring the health, safety, and documentation of students in the process.
Assist the Montessori lead guide to challenge each child to reach his/her fullest potential academically, emotionally, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment
Support the work of the classroom lead by assisting in the preparation of activity and project materials, maintaining the inventory of the classroom, and supervising the classroom
Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with faculty and administration to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program and mission
Provide a supportive and collaborative partnership with the classroom lead by consistently communicating
Participate in ongoing professional development
Attend all required faculty and team meetings
Participate in before-school care, after-school care, lunch, recess, and/or carline coverage, and parent education nights, as assigned
Collaborate and participate within a divisional team and interdisciplinary faculty
Maintain and participate in a home/school partnership by being open to consistent communication
Partner with Student Support Services, which is our student support program, to ensure student success and developmental readiness
Maintain student record keeping, lesson planning, parent reports, and parent conferences, as needed
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Team Lead
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Early Childhood Assistant Guides can expect to:
Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment, with periods of time outdoors
Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors.
Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs
