Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

We are looking for a Senior Contracts Manager who is passionate about building efficient, scalable contracting operations that drive business velocity while managing risk.

As a Senior Contracts Manager at DigitalOcean, you will join a dynamic Legal team dedicated to empowering our global business through practical, business-focused legal solutions. You will lead contract strategy, mentor junior contract professionals, and collaborate closely with teams across product, infrastructure, sales, engineering, operations, and security to streamline processes and reduce friction. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to elevate DigitalOcean’s contracting function to new levels of efficiency and impact.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the strategic lead on high-priority and large-value commercial contracts (e.g. master services, enterprise SaaS, licensing, strategic vendor agreements, global frameworks).
  • Oversee and improve the end-to-end contract lifecycle: drafting, negotiation, execution, amendments, renewals, terminations, and closeouts.
  • Define and drive contracting strategy and governance — set policy, escalation paths, fallback positions, and playbooks.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide leadership to more junior contract analysts/negotiators (whether direct or matrixed).
  • Contribute to tool selection, automation, and optimization of contract management systems and workflows.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Security, Risk, Procurement, and business stakeholders to align contractual terms with company goals and risk profile.
  • Develop, track, and report metrics / KPIs for contract operations (e.g. cycle times, deviation rates, approval bottlenecks, renewal efficiency).
  • Conduct training and enablement sessions for business teams (e.g. sales, procurement) on contracting policies, red flags, and process best practices.
  • Identify patterns of recurring negotiation pain points and lead cross-functional initiatives to standardize or eliminate them.
  • Provide high-level advisory support on complex or novel deals, and escalate matters appropriately to Legal leadership or external counsel when needed.
  • Periodically perform contract administration, audit, and compliance oversight functions to ensure adherence to obligations and mitigate risk.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean:

  • 7–10+ years of in-house contract management, negotiation, or transactional law experience, ideally within technology, SaaS, or cloud industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor contract professionals and shape contract operations within a fast-paced organization.
  • Deep understanding of SaaS, technology, cloud, software licensing, service-level agreements, data privacy, and partner agreements.
  • Proven ability to identify risk patterns, elevate issues to leadership, and recommend scalable process or policy improvements.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex legal and contractual concepts to non-legal audiences.
  • Experience defining, tracking, and improving contract metrics and KPIs to drive performance and accountability.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for technology, with a willingness to understand infrastructure, APIs, and security implications in contracts.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills with comfort operating in ambiguous or evolving business contexts.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced legal education (JD, LLM) or professional certifications (e.g., NCMA, CPCM) are a plus but not required.
