Summary:
The Lead Mechanical Engineer – Design Team leads the creation and refinement of detailed mechanical designs for Power Packaging units and related systems. This role focuses on developing robust, efficient, and manufacturable designs that align with project requirements and production capabilities.
The position combines hands-on SolidWorks work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring design accuracy, documentation integrity, and strong collaboration between engineering, electrical, and manufacturing teams.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and perform 2D and 3D modeling of mechanical components, weldments, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Develop and review detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for manufacturability and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with electrical and production engineers to ensure design compatibility and integration.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate strength, performance, and reliability of designs.
  • Oversee and maintain design documentation, revision tracking, and BOM accuracy.
  • Mentor and guide design engineers and CAD drafters in best practices and standardization.
  • Drive design improvements and value engineering initiatives.
  • Support design reviews, prototypes, and pre-production builds to ensure design intent is met.
  • Work cross-functionally to balance cost, performance, and manufacturability.

Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–10 years of mechanical design experience; 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (including weldments and sheet metal modules).
  • Knowledge of FEA, CFD, and mechanical system integration.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and design for fabrication.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
