Job Description
Strong communication, teamwork and self-management skills are required. The positions also require knowledge of practices and principles of cartography and the understanding, proper use and design of maps and other graphic representation techniques. Other required knowledge includes a broad variety of aspects of geospatial data including spatial, temporal, and attribute components, metadata, data standards, accuracy concepts, and data collection methods. Ability to manipulate spatial data and perform data processing and analysis using geospatial software is needed. The successful candidate must possess demonstrated skills and experience in ArcGIS Pro and GIS mapping. Knowledge and experience of SDE and SQL, ArcGIS Online, Mobile GIS (e.g. Esri Survey123) are a plus. Knowledge and experience of water resources are desirable. Examples of previous GIS work products will be required during the candidate interview process.
Education/Experience Guide
Employment guidelines include a Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography or a closely related field, directly related and recent GIS experience required.
License
Valid State of Florida driver's license is required.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Due to the District response role and in the total scope of emergency management, the Geographer positions may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies depending on assigned emergency role.
This position is also required to be able to drive and perform field work.
