The Role

Be Part of a fast paced, leading edge team. Convergix is looking for a highly motivated Robotics Engineer. This position will be mobile between our facilities in Bridgman and St Joseph.  This position leads the full lifecycle of a robotics project—from initial software development and system integration to on-site installation and customer acceptance. It blends hands-on technical work with collaboration across engineering teams, ensuring robotic systems are programmed, debugged, and deployed effectively. Ideal candidates bring a mix of robotics experience, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to travel, while embracing opportunities to grow in simulation, design, and automation

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading your Robotics Project has three phases:
    • Software Development
      • Develop robot programs offline
      • Check reach and interferences
      • Work with Controls Engineer to develop IO and Handshakes
    • Debug
      • Initialize Robots
      • Load your programs and supporting files
      • Work with Controls Engineer for PLC communications
      • Update Frames, Modify Positions
      • Step through programs manually
      • Bring robot up to speed in Automatic
      • Run at Rate on our floor for customer acceptance
    • Install
      • Travel to Customer Facility once line is assembled on customer’s floor
      • Debug / Bring line up to speed
      • Run at Rate on Customer’s floor for Final Acceptance
    • Perform any additional reasonable tasks as required.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Exposure to Fanuc / ABB / Yaskawa (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of PLC functions
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Design
  • Willing to learn cycle time analysis
  • Willing to learn Robotic Simulation
    • (Roboguide / Robot Studio / Motosim)
  • Exposure to CAD
  • Able to read electrical drawings
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to interpret customer standards
  • Able to travel 30-40%

 

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds
