Position Overview
As a Referral Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of referral orders. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the process of sending patients to specialists, ensuring they get appropriate care by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and communicating with providers and patients. You will be responsible for ensuring patients successfully receive and complete the recommended specialist care, closing the communication gap between providers to ensure patient needs are fully met.
Responsibilities:
Patient & Provider Communication: Serve as a point of contact for patients and providers addressing questions, clarifying expectations, and providing information about the referral process
Referral Process: Review patient charts to determine the need for specialist consultations, gather necessary clinical documentation, and prepare referral forms.
Insurance & Authorization: Contact insurance companies to verify coverage, obtain pre-authorizations or pre-certifications for specialist visits or procedures.
Appointment Scheduling: Schedule specialist appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures for patients, coordinating times and locations.
Tracking & Monitoring: Monitor the status of referrals to ensure appointments are kept, and specialist reports are received and updated in the patient’s primary care chart.
Qualifications/Skills:
Required:
Experience referral coordinator, patient service representative or scheduling role in a health care setting (1 year)
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Moderate Computer proficiency with working knowledge of MS Office / Google Suite
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and EMR systems
Good writing/reading and analytical skills
Ability to work collaboratively with little or no supervision
Ability to work with diverse teams and meet the deadlines in a fast paced environment
Proven efficient and accurate keyboard/typing skills
Job Type: Full-time, On-site (Shift Hours: 10 a.m. - 7p.m. CST)
Job Pay: $18.50/Hour
