RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and work with two to four other personnel engaged in splicing, installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining underground distribution system and equipment. 
  • Role requires a thorough knowledge of the underground vaults and duct-lines
  • Receive and interpret work assignments.  Plan and coordinate equipment and material.  Determine logical sequence for tasks.  Coordinate activities with internal/external contacts.
  • Direct and work with crew and other personnel in safely performing all aspects of line work and underground maintenance; including out-of-town work, trouble shooting and after hour call outs.  Become involved with design modifications as needed.  Ensure work is carried out within acceptable boundaries.
  • Responsible for administrative duties.  Stay current with policies, procedures and understand paperwork required by the job and Company.
  • Ensure safety and training requirements are met.  Communicate and assure compliance with Company safety policy and practices.  Provide and coordinate training opportunities for apprentices and other crew members.
  • Maintain and develop an increased understanding of underground and line-related technology; including tools, associated equipment, work procedures and material changes, and  assist others.
  • Must utilize appropriate leadership and communication skills in working with other employees and the public.
  • Perform duties of a like or lesser grade which may be assigned.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have completed an Underground Lineworker/Cablesplicer Apprenticeship.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years or more experience as an Underground Lineworker/Cablesplicer.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License
  • Must obtain and maintain an Asbestos Workers O&M Category III Certificate
  • This position is subject to Federal DOT FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act) regulations.
  • This job falls under the special weighting given to leadership requirements under paragraph 70 of the union contract
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
