Job Summary:

Apparel Buyer is needed in a quickly growing, rapidly expanding chain of resort retail stores. Candidate must be an entrepreneurial, flexible, problem solver, with strong organizational skills. We are looking for someone who is positive, energetic, collaborative, and motivated by product and business to join our dynamic team. Retail experience with a privately-owned company is a plus.

Responsibilities:

-Manage buying function for a large, branded vendor matrix across multiple segments of business. Must have strong communication and negotiation skills. Will be responsible for vendor terms and end-of-season profitability.

-Own seasonal assortment selection, product edit, and purchasing along with gross margin, retail pricing, and promotional/markdown cadence.

-Partner with planning to manage the OTB, seasonal plan and store allocations. Must have strong analytical skills and be detail oriented.

-Partner with store managers and visual merchandising to execute in-store placement and promotional directives.

-Develop and manage associate buyer.

-Partner with shipping managers on PO validation and receipt accuracy.

-Create and analyze business reporting on in-season category results.

·Regularly survey the competitive landscape of the market.

·Some travel required – store visits (Alabama/Mississippi/Florida) and attend relevant trade shows nationwide.

· Serve as a Surf Style brand ambassador to external partners.

Requirements:

· Proficient PC skills and ability to work with computer applications and programs such as MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.

· Experience with Surf/Action Sports brands is a plus.

· Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct analysis, solve problems and make quick decisions.

· Able to multi-task, prioritize work and meet deadlines while being self-guided.

· Strong sense of style and product.

· Must be able to work 44 hours a week.

· Bachelor's Degree in Merchandising or related field a plus.

· Minimum 5-7 years retail buying experience.
