Responsibilities
- Work with engineers to complete projects for high tension and DER interconnections, system analysis, design, and standards
- Associates in the GRID Edge Team will assist in conducting a wide range of tasks including review of DER interconnections, developing standards, analytics, program optimization, developing and onboarding new equipment, and system impact studies of the electric distribution system to support internal and external customers.
- Assist Engineers, Senior Engineers, or other Engineering & Planning personnel in the performance of their tasks as necessary to accomplish the objectives of the Organization.
- Maintains and continues to develop technical expertise and job knowledge in assigned discipline area.
- Conduct engineering studies, including utilizing load flow tools (e.g. PVL) to analyze and propose solutions to mitigate identified impacts of interconnecting distributed energy resources to Con Edison's electrical system.
- Review and prepare specifications and procedures.
- Ability to perform a technical review on Distributed Energy Resource applications which includes, but not limited to, electrical schematics, protection and control systems, and other submitted technical forms.
- Support the DER project from design, construction, and witness testing to commission the system for operation.
- Visit field locations, substations, or other company and/or customer locations.
- Attend meetings with other departments, developers, contractors, consultants, and representatives from inside and outside the Company.
- Identify and take ownership of issues related to technical matters and/or process improvements.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, handling multiple assignments, and meeting deadlines.
- Remain up to date with advancements in technology and/or equipment to support interconnection.
- Direct, oversee, and review technical studies performed by contractors.
- Associates will assist in providing solutions, technical expertise, guidance, and coordinating company forces that support the design, upgrade, and maintenance of the Con Edison Distribution system.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering or Electrical Engineering and One year relevant experience (includes co-op or internships) or Six months of Con Edison co-op or internship experience.
- One year relevant experience (includes co-op or internships) Required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products Required
- Experience managing and prioritizing a number of complex projects and assignments. Required
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts Required
- Basic knowledge of electric distribution systems Preferred
- Experience with development of computer applications Preferred
- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated written communication skills
- Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
- Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
- Driver's License Required
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
