The First Bank and Trust Company is hiring a dependable, detailed-oriented individual to join our corporate office team as an Administrative Assistant/Loan Processor in Abingdon, VA. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys a variety in their day by supporting the assigned loan officer, managing administrative tasks and being the first friendly face that greets customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Greet and assist customers and visitors in a professional, friendly manner. 
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to corporate staff. 
  • Assist with loan documentation, file preparation, and processing. 
  • Provide loan processing for the Commercial Lenders. 
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of customer and internal company information.
  • Assist in preparing loan approval packages that will include obtaining credit reports, ordering appraisals, flood certifications, UCC searches, verifying insurance, and corresponding with attorney’s offices.
  • Organize and maintain commercial file system, ensuring accuracy and organization to include timely scanning of loan packages and supporting documents.
  • Proofread and edit documents for style, content, internal consistency, and readability.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND SKILLS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in banking, lending or administrative support is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional appearance and customer service mindset
