JOB TITLE:                             IT SPECIALIST I – SERVICE DESK

DEPARTMENT:                     INFORMATION SERVICES   

REPORTS TO:                        LEAD SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR/SERVICE DESK MANAGER

LOCATION:                           LANCASTER, PA

WAGE:                                    SALARIED, EXEMPT

WORK HOURS:                     FULL-TIME, VARIABLE

WORK ENVIRONMENT:      OFFICE/PRODUCTION FLOOR

 

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The IT Specialist I – Service Desk provides frontline technical support to end users across Plaskolite’s Lancaster, PA location. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues. The IT Specialist ensures users experience minimal downtime through prompt issue resolution and proactive communication. The position requires hands-on work with PCs, printers, and networking equipment, as well as user account management and system configuration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced, manufacturing-oriented IT environment. Occasional travel to local sites and participation in an after-hours support rotation are required.

 

JOB FUNCTION/PURPOSE:

  • Excellent customer service skills via telephone calls, messaging, and emails
  • Broad aptitude in technical troubleshooting
  • Hardware troubleshooting skills for PC, Printers, and Peripherals
  • Understanding of basic computer networking concepts and cabling
  • Required to travel to other local sites as needed
  • Support after hours and weekends on a rotational basis

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Address help desk technical issues such as hardware failures, password issues, connectivity issues
  • Escalate help desk tickets that need higher-level support
  • Closely monitor the help desk activity
  • Reassign help desk tickets that belong to other members of the team
  • Responsible for new user setup, including physical placement of equipment
  • Assist users with typical Microsoft Office Suite questions
  • Repair of PC’s and printers when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent training/work experience
  • Windows operating system familiarity & MS Office Suite experience
  • Experience in technical support or help desk roles requiring client support
  • Experience working with manufacturing-based systems is a plus
  • Basic understanding of computer networking, cables, and security
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to travel to other local sites as needed
  • Ability to cover weekends and after hours on a rotational basis
