ALMACO in Nevada, IA is seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator to manage our Shipping and Receiving processes. This role is essential to ensuring that our specialized agricultural equipment arrives safely and on schedule, whether across town or across the globe.

The Logistics Coordinator position at ALMACO is a full-time non-exempt position with day-shift hours. Some late afternoons and weekends are required to ensure shipping dates are met.

What You’ll Do:

As our Logistics Coordinator, you’ll manage domestic and international shipments, coordinate freight schedules, and ensure our equipment is shipped accurately, safely, and on time. You’ll work closely with clients, carriers, and internal teams to streamline operations and improve profitability.

This job includes both the hands-on driving of agricultural equipment and forklifts to load and unload and the technical task of preparing shipping documents and paperwork to ensure safe and accurate conveyance of goods.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loads and unloads heavy machinery: inspecting trailers and ramps for functionality, driving the machinery onto the trailer, or using a forklift to transport parts and material, and securing the equipment with correct tie-downs, chains, and straps.
  • Prepares parts and machinery for delivery, including scheduling of freight movement, preparation of shipping documentation, and collaborating with export companies and freight forwarders.
  • Manages inbound flow of materials and inventory by assisting with unpacking delivery trucks, coordinating with the supply area to deliver incoming supplies to the correct departments, and maintains the safety of the loading dock.
  • Maintains accurate shipping logs, processes freight quotes, and tracks start dates, ship dates, and other data using Salesforce and ERP software.
  • Arranges storage for in-process orders, completed orders, or orders awaiting client pick-up.
  • Coordinates and manages the shipping and receiving area and loading dock to ensure that proper materials and inventory are available.

Qualifications for this position:

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent at minimum is required.
  • Experience with shipping and logistics in a manufacturing setting, including domestic and export shipping practices.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required.
  • The ability (and experience) to safely operate and drive equipment including combines, tractors, forklifts, and other large mobile equipment.
  • Experience with using hand tools, saws, and other materials used for packaging and crating.
  • Thorough understanding of logistics processes required to properly prepare products for shipment.
  • Experience using computer systems including Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and handling of equipment.

Work environment, physical demands, and PPE:

Manufacturer environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, loud noise, and mechanical hazards.
This role requires standing and walking for long periods of time as well as lifting, pushing, pulling, and material handling.
Required PPE: Safety glasses, steel-toed shoes/boots, gloves.
