Western National Mutual Insurance Company is seeking to expand its IT Platforms team by adding a Site Reliability Intern. The Site Reliability Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives, while playing a key role in our day-to-day operations.

Western National Intern Program Summary:

Western National provides a robust internship program designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry. This program not only offers practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with our IT Platforms team; but interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through a range of professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.

Position Summary:

As a Site Reliability Intern in our internship program, you will be a key contributor to our IT Platforms team. Possible tasks that you assist with include:

• Troubleshooting and maintaining Kubernetes and Docker container workloads.
• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining AWS resources.
• Creating dashboards and alerts to monitor platform infrastructure and running workloads.
• Writing and applying Terraform to maintain infrastructure as code.
• Leveraging and maintaining CICD Gitlab Pipelines to automate workflows.

Requirements

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• 1–2 years of foundational programming experience.
• Experience in system administration, including installing and configuring operating systems.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or similar environments.
• Excellent time management and the ability to complete projects and assignments to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to listen and ask pertinent questions to gain understanding.
• Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment and software packages.
• Two years of college preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to pay attention to details.
• Ability to follow process.

Compensation Overview:

The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
