About Cadia


Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method. 


We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. Who we’re looking for  

 

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are wanting to continue their career in the field of ground control and geotechnical support. In this role, you'll play a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of ground control.

As the successful candidate, you'll provide geotechnical support to both Underground and Surface Operations. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safety of all personnel and equipment.

 

Other key deliverables include:

 

  • Conduct regular inspections of underground mine workings to identify and assess ground control risks.
  • Help implement and maintain geotechnical systems and procedures.
  • Work with Geotechnical Engineers on underground evaluations and improvement projects.
  • Quality Control inspections of sprayed fibrecrete, installed mesh, installed reinforcement, osro strap and injected resin.
  • Quality Assurance audits of fibrecrete supply, spraying of fibrecrete, mesh, straps, jumbo – friction, resin bolts, cable bolting, Consumables Storage and injected Resin.
  • Monitoring of ground control damage and deformation, Impromptu inspections of mechanical damage, mapping new development and corrosion.
  • Inspecting and testing via Quality Control certificates from suppliers
  • Carry out concrete testing i.e. grout/concrete cylinder, cores, RDPs
  • I-Site scanning of underground development to map structures

 

The ideal candidate will have experience in a Mining Operation  and will appreciate being part of a busy team. Additionally, you will have the ability to work autonomously when required and will add real value to the business through your ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently.

 

In addition, you will also have:

 

  • Behaviour consistent with Newmont values and Behaviours
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Working at Heights & Dogging Licence desirable

 

 

Please note: This is a residential role based at our Cadia operation in NSW. You will be required to work 7 days on, 7 days off – Dayshift only  (12-hours per day, Thursday – Wednesday, 6:00am – 6:00pm)
