About the Role 

We are currently looking for a dedicated, Quality Laboratory Technician at our Northshore site in Bunbury, (opposite the Dolphin Discovery Centre on Koombana Beach).

 

This is a permanent fulltime role working an average of 38 hours per week. The role works a 5-week rotating roster, which during the cycle involves working a mix of day, afternoon & weekend shifts. Roster below:

 

  • Week 1 Mon - Fri 6am – 2.30pm

  • Week 2 Mon - Fri 6am – 2.30pm

  • Week 3 Mon - Wed & Sat- Sun 6am – 2.30pm

  • Week 4 Mon – Fri 1pm -9pm

  • Week 5 Tue – Fri 6am – 2.30pm

 

As a Quality Laboratory Technician you will report to the Quality Laboratory Lead and provide technical support to Operations in a QA/QC function. This will be achieved through process and finished product sample testing, to ensure required quality standards are maintained in the business.

 

To excel in the role, candidates should possess a combination of technical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and familiarity with industry-specific processes.

 

  • Laboratory Techniques: Conducting sample prep, instrumental testing and related tasks in a QA/QC environment following standard instructions and schedules      

  • Instrumentation Skills: Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.

  • Quality Control: Understanding of quality control principles and experience in ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations applicable to manufacturing processes.

  • Data Analysis: Competency in collecting, and interpreting data obtained from laboratory experiments and tests, and the ability to generate accurate reports. Competency of Laboratory systems.

  • Problem-solving: Aptitude for troubleshooting and identifying root causes of issues related to product quality, process efficiency, or equipment performance in the manufacturing environment.

  • Safety and Compliance: Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with health and safety standards.

  • Time Management: Capacity to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to change processes, technology advancements, and evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Communication: Clear and concise communication skills to convey information, report findings, and collaborate with in the Quality team and across site.

  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness and precision in testing, recording data, and performing tasks to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.

 

About You

To be eligible for the role

  • Have a Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or higher equivalent 

  • Minimum 2 years relevant laboratory experience, specific to Mineral Sands or Mining industry

  • Have unrestricted working rights within Australia

  • Live within a reasonable commute from Bunbury town Centre.
