Rule 10 Assistant Wrestling Coach: 2025/26 School Year

 

Purpose: The Assistant Wrestling Coach ensures a safe and engaging environment for students participating in wrestling, and provides knowledge and guidance for the sport.

 

Reports To: Building Principal & Assistant Principal

 

FLSA Status: Exempt, under contract

 

Salary: $3,000 paid in 6 installments monthly

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualifies as a Rule 10 coach under KSHSAA 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three-plus years of experience as a wrestling coach
  • Extensive knowledge of the sport of wrestling

 

Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Demonstrate and model the highest standards of sportsmanship at all times.
  • Assist with parent/athlete meetings to disseminate athletic policies, rules, and regulations for the appropriate sport.
  • Assist with tryouts to select teams of an appropriate number of players
  • Assist with team practices
  • Ensure that all equipment is put away after practice and games, making sure all shoes, clothes, and towels are gathered from the locker room floors.
  • Be responsible for all team uniforms and equipment checked out to individual athletes/team members
  • Provide the Athletic Director with a written, detailed daily practice agenda and drills
  • Coach all scheduled games
  • Assist athletes/parents with schedule, directions to games, and admission charges
  • Supervise the team on the bus to away matches
  • Supervise the team at all times when visiting another school
  • Complete injury reports for any injury to a player during practice or games
  • Maintain appropriate documentation from medical personnel that the athlete is cleared to participate after injury or illness
  • Coordinate with Athletic Director for sports pictures
  • Supervise athletes before and after practice and games, staying until all team members have been picked up
  • Report any parents who are chronically late in picking up their athlete to the Athletic Director and Principal
  • Report any concerns with parents, referees, opposing players, or tournament officials to the Athletic Director as soon as possible

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to enter data into a computer, see and read a computer screen, and printed material with or without vision aids
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, gym environments, outdoors, and on the telephone
  • Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in typical classrooms, outdoors, the gym, and on the telephone
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to work both in an indoor and outdoor environment
