JOB DESCRIPTION
A Para-Educator/Student Success Coordinator in Endeavor High school supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth by providing individualized assistance and guidance in a virtual environment. This role includes monitoring student progress, communicating regularly with students, families, and teachers, via phone, email, or online meeting environments. The right applicant will help students develop organizational, study, and self-advocacy skills to stay on track with their personalized learning plans and pacing guides. The coordinator works closely with certificated staff to implement interventions, and connect students with resources that promote engagement and success. By fostering strong relationships and maintaining consistent communication, the para-educator ensures that students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to reach their academic and personal goals in a flexible, online ALE setting. Strong technology skills and organization are essential, including proficiency with spreadsheets, document tracking, Google Drive, and maintaining documents in a shared environment.
The paraeducator in this position will work directly with students in an online environment and assist classroom teachers in assigned tasks. The paraeducator will be responsible for carrying through prescribed instructional programs under the direct supervision of certificated staff. Other duties include adapting and making materials appropriate to instructional needs, maintaining accurate records, and performing other paraeducator duties as assigned by the supervisor.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have an AA degree OR 72 quarter college credits OR 48 semester college credits OR a passing score on the ETS test.
- Must attach unofficial transcript proving AA degree or equivalent to application. Official transcripts of all levels of education, including high school, required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to meet the Physical Demands of the position.
- Must pass a basic skills test.
- Completion of Safe Schools Web Based Training within 30 days of hire and yearly thereafter.
- Must pass a background check, which includes employee paid fingerprinting.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

- Required academic skills to assist students (i.e. knowledge in sciences, language arts, math, reading and social studies).
- Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures.
- Must take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Must attend in-service trainings or other meetings as required, as well as attend any training as directed by management.
- Evidence of ability to assess and correct issues involving safety.
- Evidence of ability to establish and maintain a tactful, cooperative and effective relationship with students, parents, staff, fellow employees and management.
- Evidence of ability to approach assigned work in a professional manner, working toward the common goal of teamwork, pride in service delivery and continuous improvement
- Must demonstrate sufficient command of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing with students, parents, district staff members and other concerned people regarding all aspects of their job related activities.
- Must be able to use basic computer programs to maintain records, enter timecard information and read and respond to email.
- Must be willing to become first-aid certified if required.

- Able to relate effectively with children in a bilingual/bicultural setting
- Proficient in providing supplemental reading instruction
- Knowledge of second language acquisition, effective ESL strategies and methods.
- Able to follow directions from supervising teach and carry out prescribed instructional management program.
- Able to model appropriate behaviors and consistent intervention procedures with students.
- Able and willing to work in a team setting
- Able to use office equipment, including keyboarding and data processing. Able to utilize computer and basic functions.
- Effectively communicates and develops relationship with students, teachers, administrators, parents and public.
- Able to work with interruptions while balancing daily responsibilities.
- Able to monitor student progress under teacher supervision.
- Evidence of ability to be a self-starter.
- Evidence of excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with instruction as directed by certificated staff using developmentally appropriate activities.
- Carry out plans and activities for students as designed by the classroom teacher
- Work cooperatively with parents, staff and students.
- Participate in assessment activities.
- Prepare instructional materials as requested.
- Independently supervise playground and crosswalk duties as assigned.
- Participate in staff in-service training, meetings, activities and Parent Advisory Council meetings.
- Maintain records as necessary for efficient procedures and evaluation.
- Act as a member of a building team in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities.
- Participate in staff in-services.
- Assist in school office and health office as needed
- Perform crosswalk supervision duties as assigned.
- Maintain professionalism by being confidential with all school-related information.
- Act as interpreter/translator for conferences, parent meetings and written communications.
- Assist with supervision and control of students in order to promote a safe, orderly, positive learning climate in and around the building.
- Accomplish all tasks in a professional manner. Model appropriate and healthy adult behavior.
- Interact with people and speak in a manner that reflects community standards of politeness, civility and human sensitivity.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor pertaining to job classification.
- Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
