Job Summary and Mission:
The Global eXperience Team (GxT) is responsible for the product management, design, engineering and ongoing sustainment of all customer facing digital products. This includes the Starbucks Rewards app, all digital consumer and marketing platforms, the Point of Sale, Customer AI tools, and the various customer facing software and hardware solutions in our stores.
The Program Management Office supporting the GxT team at Starbucks is looking for an experienced manager of program managers to join our team. This role is a mix of responsibilities including annual, quarterly, and ongoing planning and portfolio governance on behalf of GxT, quality oversight of the programs within their portfolio, and team management of 2-5 Program Managers, Project Managers and Project Coordinators. This role operates at both a strategic and a tactical level and requires the proven experience to partner and collaborate with IT and business stakeholders at the IC, Manager, Director, VP and SVP level.
Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Participates in annual operational and financial planning and quarterly reforecasting efforts for the GxT portfolio of work
- Supports ongoing GxT Intake Process, Demand Management and Capacity Management functions
- Maintains an understanding of projects within the portfolio to ensure the identification and management of cross-program dependencies and synergies and maintains a roadmap that illustrates in-flight and planned projects within a portfolio
- Provides feedback, coaching and guidance to the Program and Project Managers within their Portfolio team
- Builds and manages a high-performing team of project and program managers by making good hiring decisions, setting clear individual and team expectations, holding team members accountable to their commitments, fostering strong team collaboration, and supporting career growth.
- Responsible for setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together. This includes designing, planning and championing change management and improvement initiatives within the PMO and across GxT.
Basic Job Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years managing complex large-scale programs in a Product Engineering organization. Including leading or participating in the shift from traditional waterfall project management and project funding model to Product-funded, complex software engineering projects.
- Minimum 8 years managing complex large-scale business or information technology programs
Demonstrated experience managing a program management team through a major change/transformation. E.g. building a new PMO or significantly changing the focus, processes and structure of a PMO.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience as a program manager in the Retail Industry preferred
