Product Quality Engineer – Injection Molding

Summary:
The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for leading the quality planning, development, and launch of new and existing plastic injection molded products across the company's portfolio. This role bridges design, manufacturing, and supply chain functions to ensure robust product integrity, streamlined development, and scalable quality practices that reduce reliance on manual inspection and support continuous improvement.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and quality assurance processes for new product introductions (NPIs) and sustainability projects across the product portfolio
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain—through structured launch readiness reviews to ensure seamless integration of quality requirements into all stages of product development
  • Develop and implement a proactive quality strategy that improves process capability and reduces dependence on final inspection and quality auditors
  • Mentor and support engineering teams in the application of core quality and product development tools (e.g., DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP)
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with vendors to support scalable services while reducing fixed overhead in quality-related operations
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in injection molding by participating in focused mold processing standards, tooling guidelines, and equipment consistency
  • Support Agile product development practices to reduce rework and improve time-to-market while ensuring product and process integrity
  • Contribute to the establishment of Product Integrity Engineering functions, reinforcing cross-regional collaboration and excellence in design and documentation
  • Analyze internal and supplier data to identify systemic quality issues and lead root cause investigations and corrective actions

  

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 7+  years of experience in quality or engineering within a plastic injection molding or related manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional product launches and implementing sustainable quality strategies
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, tooling, and common defect mitigation
  • Proficiency in quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, PPAP, SPC, MSA, and root cause analysis
  • Experience supporting or leading Launch Readiness Reviews, Agile development practices, and supplier quality integration
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and related quality management systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
