We are seeking a thriving Surgical Dental Assistant who wants to maintain and grow their knowledge within the dental field! At Rivertown Dental we change lives by giving people the unexpected dental experience they deserve. We value not only our patients' experience but our team members! 


The Surgical Dental Assistant diligently supports our doctors before, during, and after each dental procedure. Responsibilities include taking X-rays, preparing surgical equipment, assisting in the placing and restoring dental implants and fixed or removable prosthetics, and caring for patients. You will also be monitoring inventory levels and replenish our dental supplies, as needed. The Surgical Dental Assistant, should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs. An outstanding oral surgery assistant should have an excellent understanding of oral surgery procedures and exceptional hand-eye coordination.

Performance Objectives (including but not limited to):

  • Performing administrative tasks such as patient charting, filing and creation, sending and monitoring of lab cases.
  • Preparing patient charts, recording treatment plans, and updating dental records.
  • Operating X-ray and 3D scanning equipment and developing radiographs for diagnostic purposes.
  • Preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Assisting the surgeon with all chairside procedures including operative setup, anesthesia administration, surgical procedures, prosthetic fabrication and adjustments, and cleanup.
  • Preparing patients for surgery and assisting monitoring vital signs during procedures.
  • Providing patients with information on oral health care, treatment plans, and postoperative outcomes.
  • Monitoring our stock of surgical supplies and medication and replenishing these, as needed.
  • Ensuring that instruments and equipment are effectively cleaned, sterilized , stored and maintained.
  • Providing excellent patient care at all times.

Capabilities/Key Competencies:

  • Sound knowledge of how to use surgical equipment, instruments, and materials.
  • Proven record of exceptional work attendance. Short notice Call ins not acceptable. 
  • A good understanding of surgical techniques, chairside responsibilities, and health and safety protocols.
  • An excellent understanding of dental records, charts, and documentation.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude
  • Letter of recommendation required 

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Dental assistant certification or experience
  • At least six months of dental assisting in Oral Surgery and/or General Practice
