Job Description

Overview

Reporting to the Chief People and Culture Officer or designee, the Sr. Business Partner, People Services plays a pivotal role in championing a diverse workforce throughout the organization and each employee's life cycle. They provide essential support in aligning staff to business objectives, including recruiting the right talent, enhancing staff performance, supporting employee development, and assisting in planning strategic HR initiatives. Additionally, they collaborate on the organization’s internships, update policies and practices, and oversee wellness and health initiatives. By promoting MHF corporate values and shaping a positive culture, they contribute to fostering a well-engaged, productive workplace where everyone works to realize our mission and objectives.

 

In addition to their strategic HR responsibilities, the Sr. Business Partner, People Services provides direct supervision and fosters the professional development of members within the HR team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and continued growth within their roles.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Provide comprehensive guidance, learning, training, and professional development opportunities to staff, supervisors, and management, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Offer support to staff when complex issues arise, including leave of absence and reasonable accommodations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Monitor, identify, and promptly report all incidents of potential employment violations (observed, reported, or suspected) to the head of HR, conducting internal investigations as necessary and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations in collaboration with senior leadership, maintaining fairness and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Manage the organization's benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, EAP, FSA, and life insurance, and facilitate enrollments for all new hires to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Monitor and maintain the organization’s risk management compliance with federal, state, and corporate requirements, mitigating potential risks effectively.
  • Ensure that Men’s Health Foundation’s hiring, onboarding, and management procedures are effective, inclusive, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop HR policies and procedures that align with Men’s Health Foundation’s mission and business objectives, promoting consistency and fairness.
  • Develop and implement an innovative employment reward and recognition program aimed at enhancing employee morale, motivation, and retention, aligning with organizational goals and values.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits, researching and proposing competitive base and incentive pay programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, integrating new practices to enhance HR effectiveness.
  • Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, focusing on current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Maintain employee personnel files in compliance with company, state, and grant requirements, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and prepare onboarding materials to provide a positive experience for new employees on their first day of work.
  • Process data entry into HRIS systems and ensure data accuracy in all systems to support effective HR operations.
  • Collaborate with the Finance department to ensure compliance with California wage and hour requirements and accuracy of employee pay for accounting purposes.
  • Manage and track employee performance evaluations for the 90-day review and annual evaluations, providing constructive feedback and supporting employee development.
  • Manage and maintain Men’s Health Foundation’s workers’ compensation program, collaborating with compliance for annual audits to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Routinely visit all Men’s Health Foundation worksites on at least a monthly basis to maintain visibility and address employee needs effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
  • 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Manager, or HR Generalist, demonstrating expertise in change management, employee relations, coaching, counseling, management and leadership development, talent management, and legal compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of California and Federal HR regulations, including Wage & Hour, Title VII, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering strong employee relations and resolving workplace issues effectively.
  • Proven track record in workforce training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and performance.
  • Experience in developing and administering employee benefits programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively and provide solutions to complex HR issues.

 

Company Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, physical, and a background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check. 
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination on the first day of work.

  • Must be able to work flexible schedules.
  • Must take yearly flu shot or wear flu mask during flu season for patient-facing positions and test for tuberculosis as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
