About the Department
Join our team as a Hockey Scorekeeper, bringing your passion for hockey and keen attention to detail to contribute to the seamless flow of ice hockey games, ensuring an exceptional experience for players and fans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Scorekeeping Mastery: Maintain accurate score sheets for assigned ice hockey games, recording goals, penalties, and player substitutions.
- Timekeeping Expertise: Keep precise track of game time, providing timely updates for periods and intermissions.
- Rule Enforcement: Enforce Apex league rules to uphold fair play and sportsmanship.
- Communication Hub: Respond to inquiries and concerns with courteous and assertive language, delivering precise information to participants and the public.
- Game Coordination: Ensure games start on time through coordination with teams and referees.
- Proactive Reporting: Promptly alert the Hockey Coordinator about any issues arising during gameplay.
- Team Support: Assist referees in tracking accurate times of penalties and game clocks.
- Equipment Organization: Assist in organizing equipment and materials before and after games.
- Collaborative Spirit: Work closely with other scorekeepers and officials to ensure consistent record-keeping practices.
No supervisory responsibilities.
Position Duties
- Hockey Expertise: In-depth knowledge of hockey rules and procedures, including penalty signals.
- Basic Knowledge: Understanding of ice hockey fundamentals.
- Record-Keeping Skills: Writing legibly and maintaining clear, accurate records.
- Time Management: Proficiency in keeping accurate time during games.
- Communication: Demonstrate the ability to communicate courteously and assertively.
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with electronic scorekeeping devices and score sheets/books.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Prior experience as a scorekeeper in ice hockey or related sports.
- The ability to coach Learn to Play Hockey is an asset.
Other Qualifications
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Mobility: Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the ice rink.
- Light Lifting: Lift and carry lightweight equipment and materials as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Chill Atmosphere: Works in an ice rink environment with low temperatures and noisy surroundings.
- Late Nights: Monday – Wednesday as late as midnight.
- Noise Levels: Moderate to loud, often due to active children, group interactions, or busy transportation settings. Work may occur in environments with poor acoustics, distractions, or high activity levels.

No travel is required.
