ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Computer Engineer, Microsoft Power to join our team supporting the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) at their Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Schenectady, NY with hybrid flexibility (up to 25%).

Responsibilities

  • Heavily utilize the Microsoft Power Platform tools to develop forms, automate business workflows, and provide data visualizations.

  • Work with FMP subject matter experts (SME) to understand the functional requirements to meet various KLS office operational streamlining needs.

  • Provide a developer user guide documenting the custom application, workflows, and reporting setup for Buyer.

  • Develop an end-user guide for Buyer and train Buyer how to utilize Microsoft Power Platform tools effectively and answer any technical related questions.

  • Develop a project schedule with associated milestones to complete the Power Platform applications development following completion of functional requirement gathering and documentation.

  • Provide weekly status updates on the project.

  • Communicate schedule delays larger than 8 hours to the buyer.

Requirements

  • Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/engineering or a related discipline and 10+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.

  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "L" Clearance.

  • Must have 5+ years of experience in application development with 2+ years of Microsoft Power Platforms development.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules.

  • Experience gathering and documenting functional requirements.

  • Ability to work in an agile environment and consistently maintain development documentation.

  • Must have knowledge of database development.

  • Must be able to learn, observe, and adhere to all pertinent Site Security, Site Safety, and Site Information Security requirements.

About the Site

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is comprised of the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory located in Niskayuna, New York, the Kesselring Site, located in West Milton, New York, and the Naval Reactor Facility located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together, they develop advanced technology for the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, ensure the safety and reliability of naval nuclear reactors, and train Sailors who operate reactors in submarines and aircraft carrier fleets (energy.gov).
