The City of Lakewood is currently seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant II for its Planning and Development Department. This is a full-time, AFSCME Bargaining Unit position with a salary range of $24.55 to $ 27.58 per hour. Normal working hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, (M – F).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Performs highly complex administrative functions in support of all divisions in the Planning and Development Department; utilizes principals of continuous process improvement to improve departmental efficiencies and manage office workflow; develops various complex reports by researching and gathering information/statistics; attends meetings and takes minutes; maintains personnel records and processing related paperwork; greets and assists the public; handles inquiries; completes department fiscal functions; prepares and tracks the budget; prepares payroll/entering information; addresses complaints and resolves problems; formats and types letters, memos, charts, labels, reports or other on a computer and proofs correspondence and related documents of staff; types contracts, legal documents, grant applications, requests for proposal or other documents containing complex terminology; composes correspondence in accordance with standard policies; answers various inquiries; explains policies and procedures and arranges appointments; processes orders and updates manuals; processes routine and non-routine matters independently; monitors financial and statistical information pertaining to multiple grants/funds; tracks statistics; generates and distributes reports; prepares agendas for and/or attends a variety of meetings and conferences; excellent written and verbal communications skills; performs other related duties as assigned.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Personal Computer and/or General Office Equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a high school graduate or possess GED.
  • Supplemental course work in accounting, office management or related field preferred; and four (4) to five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • May be required to participate in testing at the discretion of the City.
  • Must be able to maintain high levels of confidentiality and professionalism when handling highly sensitive issues and information.

 GENERAL INFORMATION:

Employee may be required to work overtime pursuant to the provisions of Article 5 and Article 15 of the current negotiated agreement. Applicants may be reassigned as required.
