Job Description:  

Bulldog Enterprises is looking for our first ever Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFOO) intern! 

This is a new and exciting opportunity to get real-life experience managing the financial objectives of multiple businesses within Bulldog Enterprises. This role will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy for our organization.  

The CFOO will be responsible for overseeing the financial health and operational efficiency of Bulldog Enterprises. This role combines strategic financial planning with hands-on operational leadership to ensure sustainable growth, compliance, and innovation across the different businesses within Bulldog Enterprises. This internship qualifies for LSB credit for those seeking a for-credit internship for graduation.

Required Qualifications:  
  • Current student at Butler University  
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience or coursework in finance, accounting, operations, or related field. 
  • Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Proficiency in constructing financial models utilizing financial assumptions  
  • Demonstrates a high level of dedication to Bulldog Enterprises 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Junior/Senior student 
  • Experience with budgeting software, Excel, and financial modeling tools. 
  • Prior leadership in a student organization or business setting. 
  • Familiarity with university financial systems or compliance processes. 
  • Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling tools, or supply chain platforms. 
  • Ability to create and document processes 
Job Responsibilities:  

Financial Leadership 

  • Develop, manage, and create budgets, forecasts, and financial statements. 
  • Support expense tracking, accounts payable, payroll, and vendor relationships. 
  • Create and maintain financial dashboards and KPI tracking systems. 
  • Forecast revenue and monitor financial performance across the enterprises. 
  • Conduct standard audits and ensure financial statement accuracy 
  • Work with key Butler University finance personnel to ensure compliance with Butler policies and procedures. 

Operational Oversight 

  • Support day-to-day operations of enterprises with troubleshooting and efficiency improvements. 
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, insurance, and legal agreements. 
  • Identify and analyze potential risks to each enterprise. 
  • Manage and support rent and space contracts. 
  • Maintain and optimize operational SOPs and audit processes through the creation of templates. 
  • Support supply chain management and sourcing strategies and processes 

Technology & Tools 

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of operational tools (e.g., POS systems, scheduling software, Canva). 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Serve as a liaison with university departments  
  • Provide leadership team with sufficient financial analysis to align financial and operational goals for decision making 
  • Make recommendations on all major decisions within Bulldog Enterprises 
  • Interpret complex financial data for strategic decision-making 
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the financial and operating processes 
Other Expectations:  
  • Maintain regular and punctual availability and attendance at all required meetings. 
  • Communicate proactively and respond promptly to requests to all key stakeholders 
  • Comply with University standards and policies.  
  • Ability to work under limited supervision. 
Learning Outcomes:  
  • Create, monitor, and adjust financial tools and templates to support enterprise efficiency and budgets. 
  • Interpret financial dashboards and KPIs for recommendations that inform operational and strategic decisions.  
  • Identify and implement processes and improvements using SOPs, audit tools, and technology. 
  • Gain leadership and hands-on experience with financial and operations management
