The Accounting Specialist I processes payment of Bank expenses, processes wire transfers, maintains Fixed Assets records, reconciles Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets to the General Ledger as well as various other accounts by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for Accounts Payable.
- Maintains Accounts payable program and reconciles to General Ledger.
- Prepares monthly and annual Accounts Payable reports.
- Responsible for Fixed Assets.
- Prepares Fixed Assets depreciation entries, reports and reconciles to General Ledger.
- Prepares various monthly Board Reports.
- Performs functions related to wire transfers, including ensuring that information is properly and accurately completed.
- Performs verification procedures for wire transfers.
- Reconciles to the general ledger accounts, various internal accounts and Teller cash.
- Ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of transactions.
- EFTPS transmittals and filing.
- Prepares year end vendor 1099s and some withholding tax forms.
- Books the accruals for prepaid expenses.
- Reports and handles unclaimed property.
- Prepares daily entries.
Nonessential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pull daily reports from document storage.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and previous experience in accounting and/or banking such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations. Preference may be given to those with a degree related to accounting.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of Word Processing software, ability to use Adobe to edit and combine pdf files, and Spreadsheet software.
