Shift Details: Part-time - 20 hours/week

Compensation:  $30-$34 per hour

Location: Onsite at our Metro Office - 7625 Metro Blvd, Edina, MN 55439

About the job:

This position is responsible for general accounting duties, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, processing accounts payable, payroll, and grant invoices, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Essentials:

• Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile various accounts, including bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
• Provide bi-weekly payroll support and complete monthly health, dental, and other benefit account reconciliations.
• Process daily cash receipts and record cash transfers from multiple sources, including checks, wire transfers, credit cards, and electronic payments. Enter cash receipts, ACH, credit card transactions, and journal entries into accounting software.
• Maintains the corporate credit card purchasing program, including managing enrollments, terminations, individual credit limits, approve updates, system lists, reporting, and uploads the credit card journal entries into the accounting system.
• Provide backup support to accounts payable and grants management, including processing invoices and payments.
• Assist with W-2 and 1099 annual reporting requirements.
• Prepare external reporting requests, such as US census reports, as needed.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Review and research budget variances to help ensure the accuracy of financial reports.
• Prepare documentation in support of audits and reviews by external organizations, including the year-end annual financial audit, and those of public and private funders.
• Build internal and cross functional relationships necessary to achieve ongoing and transparent communication to ensure accuracy and success of the team and organization.
• Occasionally work extended hours as needed to meet established timelines for deliverables.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or business required
• 2 years of related nonprofit accounting experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills with an emphasis in Excel. Preferred experience with Sag Intacct.
• Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability and willingness to learn and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proven time management and organizational skills to meet established deadlines
