Join our team at the Madison Area YMCA, where we use the power of sports to build confidence, character, and community. As a Sports Instructor, you’ll help young athletes learn new skills, make friends, and discover the joy of healthy competition—all in a fun, supportive environment.
Tentative Hours:
Monday–Friday: 3:45 PM–6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Sunday: 12:15 PM–2:15 PM
What You’ll Do:
Lead youth sports classes that are safe, fun, and inclusive.
Teach fundamental skills and encourage teamwork.
Create an environment where kids can grow in confidence and ability.
Maintain equipment and ensure safety at all times.
Support the Sports Department’s programs and goals.
What You Bring:
Energetic, positive, and dependable individuals who enjoy working with kids and sports.
Ability to engage participants and model good sportsmanship.
Strong communication skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
Prior coaching or playing experience preferred but not required.
Commitment to the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

CPR, First Aid, and AED certification provided (must be maintained).
Supervision of Youth:
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youth.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

Abuse Prevention Responsibilities
All employees are expected to maintain boundaries, follow mandated reporting requirements, and uphold our policies and procedures to protect youth and participants. This includes attending required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behaviors, and adhering to procedures that minimize risk. Supervisors are also responsible for providing oversight, feedback, and accountability to ensure staff and volunteers follow these standards.
