Title: Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) Lead 
Location: Auburn Clinic 
Schedule: 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM 
Pay Rate: $83,200

Position Summary 

The SUDP Lead provides clinical leadership, mentoring, and compliance oversight within the Auburn Clinic’s behavioral health and addiction recovery services. This role supports the SUDP Clinical Supervisor in ensuring all counseling staff maintain high standards of documentation, ethical practice, and compliance with Washington State Department of Health (DOH) requirements. The SUDP Lead also plays a key role in onboarding, training, and mentoring new SUDPs and SUDPTs, while maintaining a small member caseload. 

Key Responsibilities 

Clinical & Compliance Oversight 

  • Review and sign off on chart notes, progress notes, and group documentation completed by SUDP-Trainees to ensure compliance with DOH regulations, clinic policies, and ethical standards. 
  • Ensure timely completion of member records, including assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries. 
  • Monitor adherence to WA DOH SUDP requirements, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2. 
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Supervisor to address compliance gaps and implement corrective action plans. 

Leadership & Training 

  • Support onboarding of new SUDPs and SUDPTs by providing training in clinic workflows, documentation standards, and member engagement practices. 
  • Mentor and guide SUDPTs to develop clinical competencies, with the goal of successful exam completion and advancement to SUDP licensure. 
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities to the counseling team. 
  • Facilitate ongoing leadership training and contribute to building a collaborative, recovery-focused clinical culture. 

Program Administration 

  • Run regular reports monitoring clinic census to help ensure accurate representation of active census and caseload assignments. 
  • Maintain and update counseling team instructional documents, including policies, workflows, and training resources. 
  • Track and coordinate counselor coverage for planned PTO requests to ensure continuity of care. 
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support regulatory audits or reviews as needed. 

Direct Member Care 

  • Carry a caseload of up to 30 members, providing counseling and recovery support services in alignment with individualized treatment plans. 
  • Serve as a leader or co-leader of therapy or educational groups and provide other treatment activities. 
  • Promptly and accurately complete progress notations of all interactions with patients in assigned patient files. 
  • Consistently maintain professional boundaries with patients and coworkers. 
  • Maintain regular communication with the MSO and attend meetings as requested. 
  • Meet with primary supervisor for the purposes of patient clinical consultation and clinical skill development, and/or with designated supervisory staff for reviewing patient documentation and treatment planning issues. 
  • Coordinate assigned patient treatment with other staff departments. 
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings to review patient treatment progress and status, hear and act on patient appeals of administrative action, and address program non-compliance issues. 
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions as needed, ensuring therapeutic integrity and compliance with evidence-based practices. 

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Current Washington State SUDP license in good standing. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a licensed SUDP. 
  • Knowledge of WA DOH regulations, HIPAA, and 42 CFR Part 2. 
  • Strong skills in documentation, organization, and compliance monitoring. 

Preferred: 

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a behavioral health or addiction treatment setting. 
  • Experience working in Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) programs. 
  • Proficiency with KIPU EMR or similar electronic health record systems.
