This is a part-time position with a maximum of 19 hours per week. Part-time employees cannot work more than 28 hours a week, serve at will, and are exempt from Civil Service Rules.
SALARY INFORMATION
$17.33 - $21.06 Hourly

DEFINITION
Under supervision, responsible for clerical activities associated with the circulation of materials.
Position Duties
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Performs routine duties in the circulation section of the library.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Issues borrower cards, collects fines and appropriate fees, processes materials for circulation.
Assists library patrons by providing routine directional assistance.
Operates a variety of equipment such as copy machines, computers, and calculators.
Sorts, shelves and mends library materials.
This position may include driving the library Bookmobile to various locations within the City of Azusa.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance.
Education: Example combinations include graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience: At least one year of customer experience is highly desirable. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Display a friendly and helpful attitude.
Be dependable and punctual.
Possess the ability to learn library procedures and practices including the location of materials in the library, and demonstrate a commitment to safety.
Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
Read and straighten out assigned book shelves.
Other Qualifications
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to obtain a Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
The incumbent must have the ability to work occasional weekends, evenings and/or holidays and be flexible in working hours.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements above and below shoulder level in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and acute hearing is required when providing face-to-face service. The need to lift and carry supplies and other materials weighing up to 20 pounds is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this position works indoors and sometimes outdoors when driving the bookmobile. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.
