LondonEnergy operates the second largest waste contract in the UK, handling and processing nearly 750,000 tonnes of London’s waste every year. We have a dedicated team of people working across our various North London sites, making a positive difference to the environment and the local community.
By processing household waste at our facility, we produce enough waste from energy to power 80,000 homes every year and recycle 70% of items through our Reuse and Recycling Centres.
About the role:
To clean and maintain plant, buildings and grounds in order to provide suitable conditions for the safe and efficient operation of the plant.
No two days are the same, and you will have unique opportunities to maintain environmental and safety compliance standards and any general assistance within the maintenance team. We will ensure that you have the relevant training and experience required to do this.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with lubrication of machines and support qualified technicians during servicing and maintenance tasks.
- Support work on APCR (Air Pollution Control Residue) operations and related equipment.
- Help perform minor repairs, such as re-joining pipework, replacing grease nipples, and tightening flanges.
- Assist Mechanical Maintenance Technicians across all operational areas and cover Operator/Technician duties when required.
- Carry out maintenance tasks following procedures, manuals, and checklists, while completing relevant documentation.
- Maintain tools, lifting equipment, and the workshop to a high standard; operate forklift trucks and cranes as needed.
- Report and help resolve Health and Safety issues on site promptly.
Requirements
- Previous mechanical experience would be very advantageous.
- Must be aware of and adhere to safe working practices.
- Previous experience working with industrial cleaning equipment or driving plant machinery and equipment would be beneficial.
- A full driving license and experience of operating a small plant is advantageous.
- You must be able to work in confined spaces and carry out work at height.
- Basic level of literacy and numeracy to be able to understand safety instructions and writing assessments and use digital mobile technology.
- This role operates a staggered shift pattern which includes 12 hour day shifts, weekends, night shifts and being on-call, so your personal circumstances must permit availability for response to being “called in” outside of normal working hours.
