Job Summary

THE POSITION: The Director shall provide educational and administrative leadership to the professional staff and students; support staff, teachers, and clerical; serve as a liaison with LA County Mental Health, LA County Probation, other county partners, community partners, and the public; interface daily with students, parents, and other stakeholders; and perform related duties as assigned by the LACOE central office. The Director must be a strong instructional leader. The position requires specialized subject matter expertise in alternative education and extensive knowledge in curriculum, instruction, positive behavior interventions and supports, student discipline, social-emotional teaching and learning, trauma-informed teaching, and project-based teaching and learning. The Director must also be highly organized and able to facilitate instructional processes and procedures, special education implementation and monitoring, specially funded programs, testing and evaluation, various budgets, and foster a culture of care among students and staff. Additionally, the director must have strong experience using data to drive continuous improvement, accountability, and supporting and building capacity among certificated and classified staff.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: -Five or more years teaching experience required. -Three or more years of Principal or District Leadership experience required. -Direct work in special education and with At Promise youth is highly desirable. Education: A master's degree in education leadership or administration from an institution of higher learning accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation required. A Doctorate highly desired. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application): Possess and maintain a valid Multiple, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Teaching Credential and Administrative Services Credential.
