POSITION REQUIREMENTS / EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:  Ideal candidate is a mature, responsible, dependable individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; is a people-oriented and satisfaction driven person; can handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and possesses a flexible schedule.  Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and trustworthy; with the ability to transmit a welcome greeting while handling cash transactions in an efficient and effective manner. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, operate a ride that simulates motion, with or without reasonable accommodation, and work outside in inclement weather. A High School diploma or equivalent, and cash handling experience are required. A background in sales and knowledge of COSI is helpful. 

OBJECTIVE:  Create a first impression of welcome and warmth to all of COSI’s Guests and set the mood and tone for each Guest’s experience at COSI by providing encouragement to explore the Exhibition Areas and to purchase tickets for our Motion Simulator, Traveling Exhibits, and COSI Memberships.  

ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

  1. Greet and welcome each and every guest to COSI by being attentive and providing a positive first impression.
  2. Encourage guests to become COSI Members or purchase add-on tickets to COSI’s Motion Simulator, or Traveling Exhibits.  
  3. Help guests maximize their visit by providing information to guests regarding programs, demos, and shows; hours of operation; cost of admission; etc. 
  4. Distribute amenities and perform sales at a concierge desk. 
  5. Direct guests in person and over the telephone as appropriate.
  6. Perform the daily check-in of all reserved groups, both inside and outside of the building. 
  7. Maintain a safe and courteous environment while operating COSI’s Motion Simulator.
  8. Be fiscally accurate by balancing your cash drawer at the end of each shift.
  9. Perform daily in accordance to the service and sales standards as outlined by COSI and the Guest Relations Team. 
  10. Staff entrance to traveling exhibit galleries to provide guest service and sell tickets as required.
  11. Serve as a resource for guests attending special events at COSI.
  12. Provide immediate assistance to guests and team during emergency situations under the direction of the Guest Supervisor on Duty (GSOD).
  13. Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.
  14. Work in conjunction with the daily Volunteer Point to provide consistent training, evaluation, coaching, and discipline to all Volunteer Team Members in front line operations. 
  15. Serve as a model team member for COSI’s Guest Service Strategy. 
  16. Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Guest Relations, and/or the Guest Relations Team Lead(s).
