Position Overview

The Network Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily performance, stability, and security of the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure. This position provides both technical and operational leadership to the Network Operations Team, ensuring reliable connectivity, efficient troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of network systems and services. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in network administration, proven experience leading high-performing teams, and the ability to implement scalable solutions across complex enterprise environments.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and oversight for the operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, intranet, Internet, and wireless systems.
  • Plan, organize, and manage the work of the Network Operations Team to ensure maximum network uptime and responsiveness.
  • Monitor and maintain network and server infrastructure performance, identifying and addressing issues to minimize downtime and ensure high availability.
  • Establish and enforce operational policies and procedures for network management, incident response, and change control.
  • Coordinate the monitoring, testing, and analysis of all network components to ensure consistent functionality and security.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership and cross-functional teams to plan network upgrades, capacity expansion, and modernization initiatives.
  • Manage network-related projects, including implementation of new technologies, configuration management, and lifecycle support.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for complex technical issues, ensuring timely and accurate problem resolution.
  • Maintain and improve enterprise monitoring systems for servers, network devices, and applications to proactively identify and address performance issues.
  • Lead and mentor technical staff, fostering professional development and ensuring adherence to established service standards.
  • Develop and deliver performance metrics and operational reports to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security standards, industry best practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10 + years of progressively responsible experience in network engineering or operations within a large enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading network operations or infrastructure teams with responsibility for availability, performance, and incident management.
  • Advanced understanding of networking concepts and infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless technologies.
  • Proven experience with enterprise-wide monitoring and management systems (e.g., SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, Splunk, ServiceNow, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or ITIL v3/v4.
  • Experience managing cross-functional IT projects or initiatives.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, compliance frameworks, and secure network architecture best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex technical challenges while maintaining operational excellence.
