Job Description:

At American Iron & Metal (AIM), safety and sustainability are at the core of everything we do. As part of our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team in Colton, California, you’ll play a key role in protecting our people, our environment, and our communities. This is your chance to be part of a hands-on, fast-paced recycling operation where every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make an impact.

Reporting into the Health and Safety Manager:

  • You will support the EHS Manager and the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team to promote a strong safety culture across all AIM sites.

  • You will conduct regular yard and facility inspections to identify hazards, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.

  • You are proactive in monitoring and reporting on environmental, health, and safety performance metrics to help drive continuous improvement.

  • You will help roll out company-wide safety initiatives, programs, and training that empower employees to work safely every day.

  • You will maintain accurate and up-to-date training records, incident reports, and certification files.

  • You will gather and organize monthly safety reports and documentation from AIM yards to support compliance and consistency.

  • You are responsible for ordering, stocking, and distributing PPE and safety supplies to all operational sites.

  • You will assist with data entry, analysis, and reporting within AIM’s safety management systems.

  • You will contribute to waste management, recycling initiatives, and environmental reporting, supporting AIM’s commitment to sustainability.

  • You will assist in incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and help implement corrective actions.

  • You will take part in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE compliance.

  • You are a key resource for the EHS Manager, General Manager, and Operations team, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient yard operations.

  • You will provide support to EHS and Logistics departments as needed.

  • You will take on other duties as assigned to help AIM achieve its mission of safety, responsibility, and operational excellence.

  • You will travel between sites 40-60% of the time. 

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience.
  • Will travel between sites 40-60% of the time
  • Proficent with Microsoft Office 
  • Fully bilingual communication skill - English and Spanish
  • Minimum of 6 months of PIV (Public Industrial Vehicle) experience 
  • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Must posess a valid driver's license
