The Opportunity
Contribute to the high-quality management of Council owned and/or managed properties by undertaking designated operational and statutory duties with emphasis on management of leases/licenses, and all administrative matters relating to Council’s property portfolio.
Responsibilities of Customer Service Officers at Council include:
- Assist with administering subdivisions and the implementation of easements in consultation with other internal groups.
- Act as a liaison and key contact point for arrears and property related administrative issues
- Ensure administration and maintenance of Council’s lease and licence register on Council’s property management system.
- Liaise as required with internal stakeholders and service managers in relation to leasing and licensing matters.
- Ensure timely collection of rental income and information (i.e., financial reporting, insurance certificates and liquor licence permits) required under leases/licenses.
- Ensure all property lease management documentation is accurately maintained and recorded (including annual and financial reporting, insurance certificates and liquor licence permits).
- Manage all data relating to leases, licences and other agreements and ensure Council’s database is accurate and up to date.
- Maintain and manage Council’s property register (land and buildings) including data on Council’s property management system.
- Undertake Title searches as required.
- Assist with any Crown Land management and related land use issues.
- Engage constructively with stakeholders and provide high quality and responsive internal and external customer service in all dealings.

- Raise and process purchase orders for goods and services through the Oracle system.
- Assist in the collation of information and preparation of documents to allow the consideration of works and consents on Council land.
Skills & Experience required
- Relevant property related qualification or work experience in a role related to the requirements of this position preferably in a local government environment.
- Ability to conduct thorough research and investigations into property matters, problem solving and demonstrated commitment and ability to achieve quality outcomes.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of property theory, practices, guidelines and legislation and practical experience related to the functions and duties of the position.
- Demonstrated negotiation, conciliation and interpersonal skills.
- Sound written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop and present accurate and reliable information contained in reports and correspondence relating to all aspects of property management.
- Excellent engagement and customer service focus to internal and external stakeholders.
