About the Department
Work closely with the Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences and a team of professional staff to provide support for the daily operations of the Dean’s office. Employee will facilitate processing of faculty personnel files, student degree audits, budget related reports and other duties assigned by the Dean.
Position Duties
To provide administrative support for the Dean of College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS). The Assistant to the Dean is expected to perform these duties independently and with a high level of independent judgement and self-initiative in determining the appropriate approach/action to take in handling any situation. Some of the duties included in this position are:
- Perform various administrative support activities such as maintaining student, faculty and staff files and records.
- Prepare human resource related forms such as payroll action forms and various hiring related documents.
- Prepare budget related forms, process data and submit reports to other departments within the University.
- Assist and coordinate with other departments to ensure successful degree audits and certifications of graduating seniors from CBSS programs.
- Process communication regarding academic standing of current CBSS students.
- Assist the Dean with planning and organizing of student, faculty, alumni and advisory council events and activities, attending and recording meeting minutes.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate files and spreadsheets (e.g. faculty qualifications, contact lists, etc…)
- Utilize and adapt to various and changing technologies/software products including Excel, Word (including Mail Merge), and University systems.
- Calendar management.
- Assist the Dean in other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of administrative experience; outstanding communication and customer service skills; data analysis; detail orientated; proficiency with office productivity software and ability to learn new technologies; ability to supervise workers; work independently.
