Financial Reporting Analyst IFRS and Investment Accounting en Athora

Within our Financial Reporting department, whose mission is to ensure the accuracy of figures related to our insurance activities and the reliability of accounting reports for the benefit of our stakeholders (our policyholders, the management of Athora Belgium, Athora Group, and supervisory authorities), in order to meet deadlines and support informed decision-making in line with regulatory requirements, we are looking for a Financial Analyst & Investment Accounting.

You will be responsible for controlling and analyzing investment accounting, IFRS adjustments, and ensuring accurate financial and accounting reporting.

Your responsibilities

As a Financial Analyst & Investment Accounting, you will be responsible for:

• Investment accounting oversight: Managing the accounting of financial assets (bonds, equities, derivatives) in collaboration with another entity within the Athora Group, ensuring compliance with BEGAAP, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements (NBB, Solvency II). Solid knowledge of complex operations, particularly derivatives (swaps, options, futures), is required.

• Insurance accounting under IFRS 17: Ensuring the accurate recording of flows related to insurance and reinsurance contracts, in collaboration with actuarial teams, and producing IFRS 17 entries.

• Internal control and audits: Implementing and strengthening internal control mechanisms over accounting entries and reporting and participating in internal and external audits.

• Financial production and analysis: Contributing to multi-standard periodic closings, producing financial statements related to investments, and analyzing performance indicators.

• Reporting and dashboards: Developing performance reports and dashboards for the Finance department, identifying variances and opportunities for optimization.

• Continuous improvement and regulatory monitoring: Supporting the digitalization of accounting processes and ensuring technical monitoring of regulatory and standards developments.

Your profile

• You have a master’s degree in finance, accounting, economy or the equivalent experience.

• You have between 3 to  5 years’ experience in a similar function, ideally in the insurance or finance sector.

• You have excellent knowledge of French or Dutch and a good command of the other national language and are comfortable working in English.

• You have a good knowledge of accounting standards BEGAAP and IFRS (including IFRS 17 and IFRS 9), as well as a solid understanding of financial instruments and derivatives.

• You are proficient in reporting and data visualization tools (such as Excel, Power BI, etc.). Knowledge of Clearwater is a plus.

• You are rigorous, organised and can manage your priorities and respect tight deadlines.  

• You have strong analytical and synthesis skills and are oriented towards solutions and results.

• You are able to work and learn quickly and at a sustained rhythm in a dynamic environment.
