What we want
The Advanced Practice Provider, under direction, provides primary health care to students at Texas A&M University. Acts in accordance with relevant licensing boards and local, state, and federal laws regulating Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
What you need to know
Location: This is an in-person position, located at the Beutel Health Center on TAMU Main Campus.
Travel: This position may require up to 10% or more travel.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Successful completion of an accredited education program for Physician Assistants or of an accredited advanced practice nursing education program at or beyond the master’s degree level.
Required Licenses and Certification:
Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) in the State of Texas.
Board certified or eligible to be board certified.
Candidate must be licensed/board certified prior to hire date.
Licensure/certification must be maintained for continued employment.
Ability to obtain BLS certification and DEA registration within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year of experience in an outpatient, hospital or college health setting.
2 years of related experience in Women’s Heath or Family Medicine. Experience in a hospital, ambulatory clinic, or college health setting.

Ability to apply modern techniques of medicine.

Knowledge of IDC-10 and CPT billing and coding principles and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Primary Health Care:
Provides primary health care to students, including medical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications or treatments, and counseling regarding health maintenance and disease prevention.
Recognizes the need for consultation and/or referral for illness or injury outside the scope of practice for an advanced nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
Acts in accordance with all relevant licensing boards, local, state, and federal laws regulating nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
EMR:
Completes accurate documentation of patients’ encounters in medical records in a timely manner.
Responds to inquiries regarding medical coding selections from coding/billing staff in a timely manner.
Continuing Education and Compliance:
Participates in continuing education activities to maintain licensure and knowledge of medical practices.
Maintains knowledge of coding procedures and responds to inquiries regarding medical coding selections from coding staff in a timely manner.
Committee Participation and Education:
Serves on clinical committees as assigned and participates in accreditation activities.
Assists in preparation of educational materials and participates in in-service education activities to support the mission of the student health center.
