Who we're looking for:
VML Belgium is seeking a hands-on Finance Director to lead a small, talented team based in Antwerp.
If you’re a skilled communicator with a proven track record of guiding CEOs towards greater profitability and growth, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. You’ll be able to bring your leadership experience to the table, having previously managed teams—ideally with responsibilities covering both Belgium and the Netherlands. If you’ve spent time in the agency world, are comfortable in the service industry, and have experience with publicly listed businesses and SOX, you’ll be right at home here.
In this role, you’ll oversee a team responsible for payments, monthly reporting, month-end closing, forecasting, and SOX compliance. Your hands-on approach and attention to detail are crucial—we’re looking for someone who’s truly embedded in the business, ready to roll up their sleeves and make a difference on the ground. With VML Belgium’s dynamic offering of over 100 employees and $15 million in revenue, your experience in similar environments will enable you to thrive and help us continue to grow.
What you'll be doing:
- Developing strategies to increase client profitability
- Preparing and supervising monthly closing, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Successfully communicating with auditors, driving successful results
- Leading financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Who you are:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of quality situational analysis and decision making, problem-solving attitude
- Ability to work autonomously and proactively
- An organised and effective approach to work and team management
What you'll need:
- Ability to manage budgets and tight deadlines
- Ability to assess and improve the control framework, financial processes
- Ability to work with financial, reporting systems, resource planning tools, and advanced spreadsheet skills
- Experience at a fairly senior level in a publicly traded company/service industry, 5 years+
- Overall finance working experience 10 years+
- Experience in team management of 5+ employees
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance
- Accounting certification (ACCA/CPA, other)
- SOX compliance experience is a plus
- MBA a plus, not required
