The Early Learning Center at Hickory Hope—MACAA’s newest program located in the new Hickory Hope housing complex—will provide the Southwood community with access to an affordable, bilingual Montessori education program for children ages 3-5. We are hiring a Lead Montessori Teacher. This teaching position is year-round, and the work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7am to 4pm.

Job responsibilities
- Lead a beautifully prepared Montessori classroom that inspires independence, focus, and a love of learning.
- Implement individualized learning plans that honor each child’s unique development.
- Observe, assess, and adapt to students’ needs to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with children and their families.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to maintain a consistent, nurturing environment.
- Communicate with families through conferences, newsletters, and community events.
- Participate in and occasionally lead family education nights and school-wide celebrations.
- Maintain a calm, organized, and enriching classroom in alignment with Montessori principles.
Qualifications
- AMI or AMS Montessori primary training.
- Effective communication skills – you can clearly convey information and ideas verbally and through a variety of media to individuals and groups in a manner that promotes engagement, understanding, and retainment of the message.
- Collaboration skills—you work well in a team setting and with a partner to collectively solve a problem or make progress toward objectives.
- Multitasking skills—you excel at managing multiple responsibilities/priorities at once and managing your time efficiently.
- Relationship building skills—you can connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a way that establishes trust and mutual respect.
- Basic computer/technology skills.
- Ability to pass background checks, a physical exam, and TB screen or test.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs., work indoors and outdoors, and engage in activity with students.
- Must have reliable, independent transportation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with dual language learners and/or bilingual language skills (English and Spanish).
