Primary Role
The VP, Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) is responsible for all development, delivery, operations, and supports all business and customerfacing applications. This role partners in the definition of the technology vision for American Water by aligning with business and technical strategy. Develops and delivers new business solutions. Provides timely and effective enhancements to existing solutions. Leverages effective methodologies to support new and enhanced solutions. They are responsible for delivering seamlessly integrated applications that match enterprise and business expectations and generate value. This function oversees the development, support, and operations of custom developed and purchased software solutions and products The Enterprise Technology Solutions leader is responsible for leading American Water’s enterprise-wide application / solutions development, delivery and support. The leader also manages the development of business and technology applications used by employees and customers. They will be proficient in managing and leading all modern technology delivery models.
Key Accountabilities
• Leads the introduction and ongoing enhancements of ERP and Non – ERP solutions
• Promotes sharing of resources while leveraging variable (agile, waterfall and hybrid) delivery methods for digital solutions delivery
• Provides a standardized approach that allows application / solution development to scale based on the type, size, and scope of the project for enterprise and digital applications
• Partner with Business Functions to assess existing solutions to determine path forward (Maintain, expand or retire)
• Partners with Business functions to drive alignment between Business and Technology needs.
• Partners with the Architecture & Innovation function to ensure technology solutions align with enterprise-wide technology innovations , and to ensure application development is aligned with American Water architectural standards
• Partners with security to ensure digital & enterprise applications adhere to local, national, and global regulations and standards
• Ensures stakeholder expectations and key performance metrics are consistently met
Knowledge/Skills
• Strong knowledge and experience both functional and technical with Enterprise Systems , SAP , Oracle , Commercial off the shelf software products and systems
• Strong knowledge and experience with Solution Architecture , Technology Platforms , Service Oriented Architecture , Open source Software Business System Analysis , Application Development and Project Management in large company environments
• Extensive knowledge and expertise in technology solution development and delivery aligned to business goals
• Expertise in leading high performing teams
• Proven track record of innovation, both in internal problem solving and in fostering innovative uses of technology in the organization
• Understanding of industry applications supporting customers and enterprise
• Expertise in industry best practices of IT solution delivery models
• Ability to effectively drive business, culture, and technology change in a dynamic and complex operating environment
• Proven track record of successful team leadership and development
• Strong customer and user experience focus
• Ability to understand detailed impact while keeping the eye on the big picture
• Ability to abstract real world scenarios into easy to understand models

Experience/Education
• Bachelors in Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Systems or related field of Engineering
• Masters or MBA preferred
• 20 + years’ overall experience in Enterprise Technology Solutions (SAP, Oracle , Dynamics etc ) , Technology Platforms , Service Oriented Architecture and Open Source Software
• 10+ years’ experience in leadership roles
• Successful experience with implementing strategy across an organization
