Title: Faculty, Open Rank, Department of Physiology and Pathology

The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications for at least one full-time, 12-month faculty position in the Department of Physiology and Pathology.  Individuals with interest and preparation to serve as Department Chair are encouraged to apply. Hiring rank will be based on experience and accomplishments. We are seeking student-centered individuals with a passion for teaching, scholarship, and serviceSuccessful applicants will have demonstrated evidence of effective teaching in physiology content areas at the university or medical school level.

The selected candidate will support Burrell College’s organizational health initiatives, focusing on enhancing leadership, promoting clarity of purpose, improving communication, and reinforcing a respectful, purpose-driven culture. Position Duties


  • Instruct first- and second-year osteopathic medical students

  • Develop board-style (COMLEX/USMLE) exam questions

  • Participate in student interviews, advising, and mentoring

  • Contribute to curricular development, implementation, and assessment

  • Provide service to the institution, community, and profession

  • Engage in scholarly activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


  • Terminal degree (Ph.D.or equivalent)

  • Commitment to teaching physiology at the pre-clinical level

  • Demonstrated contributions in teaching, research or scholarly activity, and service, with continued growth potential in these areas


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching physiology in clinical context

  • Post-doctoral experience

  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation

  • Experience with online instruction and/or active learning approaches

  • Knowledge of educational theories

  • Evidence of successful student mentoring or advising

  • Evidence of scholarly activity with a record of publication/dissemination and productivity

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
