Statement of Purpose

The Director of Information Services and Innovation provides strategic leadership and oversight of JRMC’s technology infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with the organization’s mission to exceed expectations and be the difference in the lives of those we serve. This role is responsible for leading a high-performing Information Services team while fostering innovation that enhances operational efficiency, clinical excellence, and patient experience.


This is a full time position working 80 hours per two week pay period. Hours are Monday - Friday. 


JOB FUNCTIONS

Quality

  • Establish clinical informatics standards that support evidence-based practice and outcomes measurement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of IT changes, security threats, and regulatory compliance to ensure systems exceed standards.
  • Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Develop and implement IT risk management strategies to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Lead the development and enforcement of technology-related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in IT processes and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Service

  • Lead clinical technology integrations to support patient-centered care, such as telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and patient portals.
  • Develop and implement IT security strategies to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all organizational data and systems.
  • Oversee the governance of clinical data access and usability, ensuring frontline staff have the tools and information they need in real time.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the organization’s network and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze business requirements and align IT systems to meet operational needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies to recommend and implement needed advancements.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with vendors, clinical leaders, and staff to align technology solutions with JRMC’s strategic goals.

People

  • Partnering with stakeholders to identify opportunities where technology can streamline workflows, support growth, and improve the quality of care.
  • Providing visionary leadership to the Information Services team, cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster collaboration and effective communication with other departments.
  • Act as a liaison between clinicians, administrators, and technology teams, ensuring alignment of priorities and clear communication.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging employee-generated ideas for IT improvements.

Finance

  • Develop ROI models for technology investments, focusing on clinical, operational, and financial outcomes.
  • Make strategic financial decisions that align with organizational goals.

Growth

  • Drive digital transformation strategies, including AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation tailored to health care.
  • Participate in regional and national healthcare innovation networks to bring best practices and partnerships to the organization.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance systems, software, and applications.
  • Stay up to date on technological innovations and assess their applicability to the organization.
  • Drive strategic technology initiatives to support organizational scalability and future growth.
  • Promote forward-thinking, solution-oriented problem-solving using technology.

Requirements

  1. Preparation & Training - A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a relevant field is required.
  2. Work Experience - Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in a technical support or technical leadership role is required.
  3. Attendance - Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work their entire work schedule.
  4. Analytical Ability - Analytical ability is important to assess and resolve the organization’s information/computer needs and issues, gather and interpret data from several sources, and coordinate programs.
  5. Independent Judgement - Need to exercise a high level of independent judgment in completing specified functions, meeting due dates, establishing priorities, determining deadlines, etc. The ability to understand and brainstorm creative solutions to complex problems is essential. Must have strong time management skills and work productively with minimal supervision. Familiarity and understanding of the functions of basic computer hardware and software. 
  6. Contact with Others - Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative attitude is a must. Requires social sensitivity and the ability to communicate effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills to train and educate others in the operation of the computer system and network. 
  7. Supervising the Work of Others - Job requires responsibility of not only own work but also supervising the work of employees in the Information Services Department.
  8. Responsibility for Welfare of Others - Responsibility would be infrequent with the potential for minor delays with little effect on the long-term physical or emotional well-being of others.
  9. Mental/Visual Effort - A high level of mental effort is required as duties involve a wide range of procedures and the ability to exercise good judgement in duties and situations. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  10. Working Conditions - Is subject to frequent interruptions. Participates in and complies with JRMC Safety Management Program. Maintains knowledge of and observes Standard Precautions. Practices aseptic techniques wherever appropriate. OSHA JOB CLASSIFICATION: THIS POSITION IS DEFINED AS A CETEGORY II: Employee does not have exposure to bloodborne pathogens. 
  11. Physical & Sensory Effort - Frequent sitting is required to accomplish the major responsibilities of this job.
