Mission Hospice & Home Care serves patients and families in the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay with quality care and compassionate end-of-life support and education. Founded in 1979, we are a local, independent nonprofit that has provided thousands of patients and their families with physical, emotional, and spiritual support throughout the journey from a life-threatening diagnosis through death and bereavement.

As the Marketing & Communications Manager, you will be at the heart of our strategy, guiding communications for both Mission Hospice & Home Care and Hope Hospice. You’ll collaborate with senior leadership, creative teams, and local partners to bring our mission to life through compelling marketing initiatives. Your work will help elevate our brand, increase community engagement, and support fundraising and outreach efforts. This is a hybrid role, with required weekly in office days essential to collaborating with our South Care Region teams.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 5:00pm
Hybrid; 3 days in office required
Location:
San Mateo and occasional travel to Pleasanton
Mission Hospice and Home Care follows all CDPH vaccine requirements for healthcare personnel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Leading Regional Marketing and Communications Initiatives: In partnership with the Director, oversee and execute marketing strategies for the South Care Region, impacting two renowned hospice and home care agencies
- Creative Content Development: Craft marketing collateral, promotional materials, and social media content that captures the essence of our mission. From designing print materials to developing content for online platforms, your creativity will shine
- Media Relations and External Communications: Develop press releases, handle media outreach, and manage internal and external communications for the region, ensuring our voice is heard across all channels
- Event Marketing and Promotions: Collaborate on organizing and promoting key fundraising events, Provider Relations events, and co-marketing opportunities with local partners to raise awareness and engage supporters
- Crisis Communications Support: While partnering with the Director, be prepared to manage communications during critical situations, ensuring transparency and a compassionate response when needed
Education/Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, with a strong background in managing multiple projects. Experience working in an agency setting and/or within nonprofit organizations is a big plus!
- Healthcare industry knowledge is highly desirable, especially in hospice, palliative care, and home health care
- Strong writing and communication skills: You are a natural communicator, whether you’re drafting a press release, crafting compelling social media posts, or working on creative ad copy
- Exceptional project management skills: You stay organized, can juggle multiple deadlines, and bring a detail-oriented approach to everything you do
- Proven ability to collaborate: You thrive in a team environment and know how to work cross-functionally to bring marketing campaigns to life
- Strategic and creative thinker: You can think big picture while also managing the execution of day-to-day tasks with precision
- A passion for mission-driven work: You’re driven by a desire to make a difference, and your passion for healthcare and nonprofit work fuels your enthusiasm
Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in core applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with content management platforms
- Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, SEO/SEM a plus
- Experience with design applications (Illustrator, Adobe, InDesign) a plus
Pay Range:
$110K - $130K annually
