We currently have approximately 170 staff and are establishing a new office in Bangalore and as part of our continued growth.

The role

The Head of the India Office will serve as the senior-most leader for the India entity and will report directly to global leadership. This executive will be responsible for building and scaling the organization, driving operational excellence, and acting as a key liaison between the India office and Caxton's global teams. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with deep experience in financial services or technology, a strong grasp of capital markets, and the ability to foster a high-performance, collaborative culture.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Operations Oversight - Align the India center's strategic goals with Caxton’s global objectives. Oversee all aspects of India operations, including Finance, Legal and Regulatory Compliance, Accounting, Taxation, Procurement, and Corporate Governance.
  • Build a High-Performance Organization – Attract, hire and retain top talent across operations, finance, compliance, legal, software development, quantitative research and risk analytics. Develop organisational structures and succession plans to scale the centre. The role includes “recruiting and building a high performing local team” and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Performance Management and Mentorship – Provide coaching and feedback to managers and team members. Implement KPIs and productivity metrics to ensure accountability, high output, and continuous development.
  • Drive Organizational Culture – Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation aligned with Caxton's values. Foster trust, and transparent communication across India and global offices.
  • Compliance with Indian Labour Laws – Ensure full compliance with local labor regulations, including those related to wages, provident fund, ESI, and workplace safety. Maintain robust HR policies and documentation to support audits and inspections.
  • Global Partnership – Serve as the primary point of contact between the India office and global leadership. Provide regular updates on operational performance, talent, and delivery milestones.

Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. An advanced degree (CA, MBA, CFA, or equivalent) is preferred. A strong academic track record is expected.
  • Professional experience – Minimum of 20 years in senior leadership roles within financial services, investment management, banking, or technology. Experience leading large-scale operations and technical teams is essential.
  • Global Perspective - Proven track record of building and scaling global capability centres or country offices; experience working with global teams and delivering projects across multiple time zones.
  • Capital Markets Knowledge - Deep understanding of capital markets, financial instruments; exposure to hedge fund operations and quantitative analytics is essential.
  • Tech Know-How - Familiarity with software development life cycle, data management tools and quantitative research environments; ability to oversee engineering and research teams.
  • Leadership and management skills – Strong strategic thinking, decision making and problem solving abilities; ability to convert strategy into action and execution.
  • Communication - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; adept at influencing stakeholders at all levels and facilitating cross cultural collaboration.
  • Team Development - Ability to recruit, develop and inspire high performing teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation.
  • Operates with the highest degree of ethics and integrity.
