We are currently seeking a full-time patient accounts representative to join our team! In this role, you will assist with patient and payer inquiries and must be able to communicate professionally, clearly and effectively when providing information to providers, leadership, and billing staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Posts remittances for insurance companies timely and accurately
- Performs appeals and works collection reports to ensure receivable balances remain current to minimize the likelihood of write-offs. Escalates issues with individual claims that cannot be resolved or a pattern of issues with multiple claims to the Revenue Cycle Manager in a timely manner
- Requests refunds as necessary
- Assists with other duties as required
Other Responsibilities
- Stays current and ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines and encourages team adherence
- Serves as a mentor to peers and conducts self in a manner consistent with Dakota Eye Mission, Vision, and Values
- Maintains professional, timely, and consistent communication with Manager, physicians, co-workers, other leadership, vendors, and patients.
- Exhibits professional demeanor while representing the practice
- Maintains extreme level of confidentiality
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the medical field
- A general knowledge of insurance carriers is preferred
- Proficiency in computer navigation, with basic Microsoft Office/Outlook skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills – including proper phone etiquette
- Organized, detailed and deadline-oriented work habits.
- Empathetic personality giving attention to patient’s needs and concerns
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for 8 hours
- Ability to speak clearly
- Ability to hear softly spoken words

This is a full-time job opportunity, approximately 40 hours per week.
